Trimble Identity (Trimble ID) Frequently Asked Questions FAQ

Trimble Identity (TID) is a single sign-on (SSO) account that provides access to Trimble applications and online services, including various applications that are part of Viewpoint subscriptions.

Those who use a Trimble Viewpoint ID, also known as your Trimble Construction One (TC1) login, can access multiple Trimble/Viewpoint products with a single account.

What is a Trimble ID Account?

  • Trimble ID is part of a single sign-on (SSO) authentication system.
  • This account will eventually grant access to all of Trimble’s applications and websites, including Viewpoint's.
  • With your TID account, you can sign in to one of your Trimble online services and then browse to another without the need to sign in again.

  • When you log in to any Viewpoint application that authenticates using a Trimble Construction One login (see above), you will be directed to create a Trimble account. If you already have a Trimble account, you should log in with it when you are redirected to the Trimble Sign-in page. https://player.vimeo.com/video/681616117
  • Successful completion of the required steps results in you being logged in to your Viewpoint application.

What if I forgot my Trimble Password?

  • If you can't remember your password, select the Forgot Password link on the Trimble account login page.
  • On the sign-in page enter the email address associated with your Trimble account and click the Forgot Password? Link on the following page.
  • On the Password Recovery page, confirm the email address associated with your Trimble account. Trimble will then send you a code that allows you to reset your password.
  • Trimble ID Help: How do I reset my password if I can't log in?

What if I tried to reset my password, and Trimble says, “The entered email does not exist”?

If you see “The entered email address does not exist” when attempting to reset your password, it means there is not yet a Trimble account associated with that email address.

  •  Make sure you correct any typos and try again.
  • If you receive the same response, you’ll need to create a Trimble account. Use the Create an account link provided on the sign-in page.

What if I haven't received any emails when creating my Trimble account or resetting my password?

Your company's firewall may be blocking our emails, or it may be blocked by your spam filter.

What if I'm locked out of my account?

The Trimble Identity system locks your account if the wrong password was entered too many times and displays this message: “Your account has been temporarily locked for up to 15 minutes after too many failed attempts to sign in”.

You can opt to wait 15 minutes or skip the wait by using the forgot password feature.

Can I use a 3rd-party Sign-In for Trimble ID?

Yes. Trimble Identity currently supports the use of Google, Apple, and Microsoft sign-ins (collectively referred to as social sign-on) to access your Trimble account.

If you choose to use one of these options, you'll have a slightly different sign in process and your social sign-on account will become your Trimble ID login. Additionally, all password, email, and MFA management is handled through the social sign-on provider you used to sign in.

Can we require our users to use MFA (multi-factor authentication)?

For Viewpoint for Projects (VFP) product users please refer to the following resource:  Viewpoint Help VFP - Configure Multi-Factor Authentication.

For all other products read below:

If you enable MFA in the Admin Center > Enterprise Settings > Security section of your TC1 enterprise, any user that has access to your enterprise will be prompted to set up MFA the next time they sign into team.viewpoint.com.

Once that is set up, that same MFA would apply to any other products that use the Viewpoint ID SSO, but this is not enforceable on those other products. It's only enforceable via the sign-in to Viewpoint Team.

Will the process be the same if I log in using the product's mobile app?

Yes.

Will external collaborators in Team have to transition as well?

Yes, anyone who logs into Team and isn't on Azure AD will need to upgrade.

What happens if we click enable MFA and it's not required?

If you opt in, it will be required of you.
