How to enable and migrate Vista Users for Single Sign-On (SSO) with Viewpoint ID / Trimble ID in Trimble Construction One (TC1).

Requirements
Your organization must be on the Trimble Construction One (TC1) [fka ViewpointOne] cloud platform. Contact your Trimble Account Rep if you are interested in SSO but not yet on the TC1 platform.

The Viewpoint Cloud Engineering team needs to enable Viewpoint SSO for your organization prior to migrating users. Please submit a Support case to have this step completed.

  • Enterprise Admin role - Only users with an Enterprise Admin role can perform user migrations. If you are unsure of who has that role at your organization, Support can look that up by contacting Customer Support. If you received an email invite to set up an account, please respond accordingly.
    • If you are an Enterprise Admin in the TC1/Viewpoint Team portal, you can give others that role as well by editing their user in the Team/TC1 portal.
    • NOTE: The migration process will NOT trigger an email to anyone who has previously accepted an invitation to any other TC1/ViewpointOne product (e.g., Viewpoint Team). Instead, once these users have been migrated to SSO, they may proceed to log into Vista using their Viewpoint ID (VPID), aka Trimble ID (TID).
  • Send user invitations - As an Enterprise Admin, you can access and use a migration tool in the Trimble Construction One work center. This tool helps you prepare and send invites to Vista users.
  • Users choose their credentials - Users must respond to the email invitation to complete the process you started by entering their name and choosing a password.

This process will not trigger an email to anyone who has previously accepted an invitation to any other TC1/ViewpointOne product (e.g., Viewpoint Team).

Instead, once the SSO migration has gone through for these users, they may proceed to log into Vista using their Viewpoint ID, aka Trimble ID (TID), by clicking on the "Log In with Viewpoint ID" button, or starting in v2023 R1, "Sign In with Trimble ID"  from the Vista login window.

Sign In with Trimble ID

Please note, Vista SSO accounts cannot log into 3rd-party apps, such as SSRS and Excel. For this, you will need to set up a dedicated SQL account with access to any applicable secured data in Vista.
