Silvertrek Payroll Technical Access Setup

SUMMARY of Requirements:

  1. A developer/technical Vista user. This is used for installing and testing reports, customizations like buttons and custom fields, investigating payroll issues, and assisting payroll processors with technical issues.
  2. An admin-level SQL user. This is used for exceptions detection and automated fixing, installing and updating reports, customizations like buttons and custom fields, and investigating payroll issues.
    1. Note: The SQL user is a “User Application” type user, and thus it is not allowed to log into Vista and does not use one of your Vista licenses.
  3. Viewpoint must enable Silvertrek access. As a security measure, you must request that Viewpoint whitelist Silvertrek’s IP Addresses 50.173.26.222 and 104.42.57.116 before Silvertrek can connect. Also, Viewpoint must grant the admin-level access to the SQL user.

Steps to create the accounts and grant the necessary access:

  1. Add an account in VA User Profile. This is the Technical Vista User.
    1. User Name: silvertrek
    2. User Type: Vista (this is the default)
    3. Full Name: Silvertrek Systems
    4. Email Address: techservices@silvertrek.net
    5. Phone 360-667-3340
    6. Is SSO Account: Yes
    7. Permissions:
      1. Menu Administrator
      2. Form Administrator
      3. Display Earnings Rates in PR Timecard Entry
      4. View Application Logs
    8. On the Grant tab:
      1. Click "Grant Full Access"
      2. Click "Grant DBO". If you get an error, or if you cannot click the button (button appears grayed out), create a Viewpoint support ticket to request your user to be granted DBO first.
  2. Add another account in VA User Profile. This is the SQL-Only User.
    1. User Name: silvertrek.sql
    2. User Type: User Application
    3. Full Name: Silvertrek SQL
    4. Email Address: reports@silvertrek.net
    5. Rest of fields will be disabled/grayed out because it is a User Application type user.
    6. Vista will immediately prompt you to set the password on the SQL user. Write down the password you choose, and share it with Silvertrek using a secure method, such as a phone call or https://onetimesecret.com .
  3. Request Viewpoint to allow us access.
    1. Create a support ticket with Viewpoint, requesting that they whitelist the IP addresses 50.173.26.222 and 104.42.57.116 for SQL access. More info here: Enabling Silvertrek to Access Viewpoint Vista Cloud
    2. Also, request that Viewpoint Support add the SQL-Only User "silvertrek.sql" to the server role "securityadmin".
    3. Provide the following access information to Silvertrek:
      1. Vista Server URL (https://<code>-vrl.viewpointforcloud.com)
      2. Database connection address (<code>-sql.viewpointdata.cloud,<port>)
