If a Viewpoint environment is requiring a large amount of space on a server or is starting to slow down, one of the causes can be the amount of attachments.
You can manage your attachments with a few steps:
Changing actions on deleted attachments:
In Viewpoint, go to Document Management and open DM Attachment Options
Uncheck the box for "Archive Deleted Attachments" and click OK
Note: This will change Viewpoint so all attachments that are deleted are permanently removed
Changing retention periods for attachment types:
In Viewpoint, go to Document Management and open DM Attachment Types
In the grid view, you can modify many types at once
You can accomplish the same thing per item in info view
Purging expired attachments:
In Viewpoint, go to Document Management and open DM Expired Documents Purge
Search for a particular attachment type or all types and click purge
Permanently removing attachments in the deleted state:
In Viewpoint, go to Document Management and open DM Attachment Index Search
Choose to include deleted items and customize your search criteria Example:
Once your selection has been made, click Manage Selected Attachments
Click on the delete tab and then the delete button to delete the selected attachments
