1. Export Your Grid

  • Select the Grid tab in any form
  • Once in grid view click on the "Grid" icon in the toolbar and the arrow to open the drop-down menu.

Note: When the Grid Icon is grayed out it's indicating this grid cannot be exported.

  • From the drop-down menu - select "ExportGridToolStripMenuItem"
  • This opens the True DB grid Print/Export Options form.

TIP: The 3 key fields are Action, File Name, and selecting where to save the file (button with dots). All other fields are optional and can be used to refine your exported data.

ACTION: Click the drop-down arrow to select the file format.

FILE NAME: Enter the File name
Click the small box to the right of the file name field indicated by the red arrow and select a location in which to save this export.

Potential Problems and how to resolve them:
There is not enough memory to perform the entire export -
Use the "Filter Bar" to filter the grid first, reducing the number of records to export and export in stages.

The file name and location have not been designated - When the "TrueDBGrid Print/Export Options" form opens, first select the browse button (3 dots), browse to a file location, and name your file. Then select OK.NOTE: If users wish to export to Microsoft Excel format, be sure to select the Open XML Excel option and not the Microsoft Excel option. Microsoft Excel renders an Excel 97-2003 .xls format and takes 10-15 times longer to render than the Open XML Excel .xlsx format.

There are 2 main problems that occur when exporting Vista "grids" .

  • There is not enough memory to perform the entire export
  • The file name and location has not been designated.
