Pay Stub Notify Troubleshooting Checklist

If no email was received:

  • Make sure employees are set to receive pay stubs via email with attachments in PR Employees > Add’l Info.

  • Verify the employee has an email address in PR Employee(s).

  • Confirm the sender has access to PR Pay Stub Notify in VA Form Security.

  • Check SMTP mail setup: the Host field must have the Exchange server name (Start > Configure Remote Services).

  • Ensure the sender has access to the attachment type in VA Attachment Type Security.

  • Cloud users: Check the “Use SSL/TLS” box in Viewpoint Configuration (may need to uncheck).

  • Check if the email was sent in VA Message Archive:

    • Look for Sent checked and a Date Sent.

    • If failed, note the Failure Reason.

  • Restart Viewpoint Services on the server if needed.

If email was received but missing attachment:

  • Confirm attachments exist in Vista (PR Payroll drilldown or DM Attachment Index search).

  • Ensure employees are set for A-email with Attachment in PR Employee > Add’l Info.

  • If pay period is still open, verify attachment under PR Employee Sequence Control (paperclip icon).

Security Checks:

  • DM Attachment Options: Confirm storage location options are set.

  • Sender has global access to DM Attachments and DM Attachment Index Search in VA Form Security.

  • Check PR Company Parameters > Report Info for required report titles.

  • Verify sender has VA Report Security for reports used to check attachment fields.

  • Confirm sender has access to the attachment type in VA Attachment Type Security.

  • Ensure Attach Pay Stub to Employee Pay Sequences is checked.
