If standard Vista import templates do not meet your needs, you can create a custom template or copy and modify an existing template (recommended).
Steps:
Enter a name/number for the template in the Template field.
Add a description in the Description field.
Select the Import Form or press F4 to choose from available forms.
Accept the default for Import Routine, Upload Routine, and Viewpoint Routine (or specify custom routines if needed).
For direct imports, select the appropriate type: Insert and Update, Insert Only, or Update Only.
If additional functions are required, enter a User Routine (must be pre-created in the database).
Choose the file format for your template: Delimited, Fixed Width, or XML.
Delimited is required if importing attachments.
If Delimited, select the delimiter used in your file.
If XML, enter the XML Row Tag that identifies each record.
If updating multiple tables, check Multiple Table Upload and specify the Record Type column or position.
Set the Starting Line Number to skip header rows or bad data.
(Optional) Use the Record Types tab to add additional record types if needed.
(Optional) Use the Template Detail tab to add extra identifiers.
(Optional) Set up import notifications on the Notifications tab.
Save the template.
