The following article covers how to secure attachment types that need restricted access. It may be necessary to secure sensitive documents, such as paycheck stubs, that only authorized users should be able to view.
First, determine which Attachment Types (AT) need to be secured. Security can only be set for ATs that are selected to be secured. (Standard ones will default as Secured.)
Open the DM Attachments Types Form and confirm that the Secured box is checked for the ATs that need to have access restricted.
Open VA Security Groups to set up Attachment Type group(s). This is only necessary if group-level security is going to be used.
Open the VA Attachment Type Security form to set security.
Access can be given to a specific AT or to all secured Types. In the Attachment Type field, use F4 to enter the AT for specific attachments or leave the field blank to change access to all ATs.
Select either a specific company number or "Across All Companies", i.e., global access.
Choose if security is to be set at a Security Group level or at a User level.
Click the Refresh button.
Select the desired security level; 0-Allowed, 1-None, or 2-Denied (available only for user-level security).
Click the Apply button to set the attachment type security.
Now only those granted access to the secured Attachment Type(s) will be able to open attachments with the associated Type assigned to them.
